Historical Family Letter Provided by George Stout
George Stout shares, "Below is a copy of a nearly 100 year old letter penned by Ms. Cox. I have had this letter for over 50 years. It was given to me by Claude Stout who worked with the Rear Admiral, Harold Stout. Penelope and Richard Stout are my 12th grandparents, through their son David."
Daniel Boone a Likely Stout Descendant
In Ms. Cox's letter, she states that her great grandfather's sister, Sarah Stout, married Squirre Boone. They were the parents of Daniel Boone.
George adds, “I find it interesting that she, Ms. Cox, was born in Kentucky. If she was 84 years old in 1925, that puts her birthdate at 1841. Daniel Boone died in Missouri in 1820. This dating puts Ms. Cox and the writing of the letter, close to the same period of time as Daniel Boone, giving us reason to seriously consider is validity.

Penelope Stout's Family Origin May Have Been England
In the same letter, Ms. Cox states that Penelope may have been English, unmarried, and was the daughter of a minister from Sheffield, England. Penelope’s father was a minister named Prince and was banished to Holland. It is written that he had three sons and seven daughters, Penelope being one of them.
Regarding Penelope's crossing of the North Atlantic, Ms. Cox writes that Penelope was coming to America to see a brother Johnathan who was living in New England when she was shipwrecked.
