WE ALL HAVE A LITTLE PENELOPE IN US
In 1640, at the age of only 18, Penelope set across the North Atlantic to seek greater opportunities and freedoms in the New World. She sailed on a merchant with conditions unworthy of lowly livestock. For three-months she survived relentless storms, disease, and then shipwrecked. Shortly after reaching shore she was savagely attacked by hostile Indians and thought left for dead.
Despite the greatest odds against her survival, Penelope never lost faith. Through her courage, strength, determination, and love of family, she would not only survive, she would change the course of American history. Penelope should act as a reminder as to what is possible, what we can achieve and overcome, even when facing what may be perceived as insurmountable odds.
Penelope has been described as having great faith, hope, passion, optimism, strength, courage, determination, drive, endurance, resilience, empathy, and so many more admirable traits.
