1. Kings Highway Area Roadside Story
A must watch 24-minute film about historic Kings Highway. Originally created by Middletown’s Camera Club in the early 1960s. To learn more about this historical colonial road, scroll to the bottom of this page. 2. Penelope Lane
A street off of historic Kings Highway named after Penelope. Location: The north side of Kings Highway and one block west of Middletown Township Building. 3. Throckmorton-Lippitt-Taylor Graveyard
Some say Penelope, and maybe Richard, was likely buried here. However, there are no gravestones for Stout here, and it is been reported that ground penetrating radar shows no other bodies. To learn more, click here. Location: About half way up on Penelope Lane. Vertical Divider

4. Kings Highway and Conover Ave
All original settlers owned a lot on Kings Highway where they were supposed to keep their primary residence, and outlots, where they did their farming. It is very difficult to know where Penelope and Richard’s outlot was, but a couple historians many years ago tried to identify their lot on Kings Highway. It was lot 6, which was estimated to be at this crossroads.
Location: .7 miles east from Penelope Lane, intersection of Kings Highway and Conover Ave.

5. Marlpit Hall
For a feel of what houses were like in the 1700s, this is a nice place to visit. Marlpit Hall is one of, if not the, oldest house in Middletown. There is a nice exhibit in there now, too.
